INTRODUCTION
             A Working group on Technical Education of the  All  India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in February 1978,  recommended  that  selected Polytechnics  called  as Community Polytechnics  should act as focal points to promote Rural Development Activities on Scientific lines through various methods.

            The Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Goa  was  selected  as Community Polytechnic in the year 1991. The Talukas coming under the Community Polytechnic Wing of Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Goa, are: -Mormugao, Ponda and Tiswadi Taluka.
