9001:2015 CERTIFICATION
The Institute of
Shipbuilding Technology, Goa, established in 1981 with aim of providing
technically sound manpower to the industry has always been trying to
deliver high quality professional education. To further enhance the level
of quality of services rendered, ISBT decided to develop, implement &
monitor Quality Management System across the entire organisation &
accordingly actions were initiated in year 2002. By May 2003 ISBT was
successful in getting its QMS certified for compliance to ISO 9001:2000
by IRQS and subsequently upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 and then ISO 9001:2015.
Some of the major consequences of adoption of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) are summarized below:
All the academic & support activities of various departments of the
Institute are now integrated in to a formal process model. Due to this the
course delivery, internal assessment test, laboratory work, seminar,
Industrial visit, other extra curricular activities are all planned well
in advance and made available to all concerned in the form of calendar of
events, regular feed back from the students are obtained and analysed to
improve the entire process. Internal audits are conducted by qualified
auditors to check the implementation of the process at all level.
Statistical methods are adopted to analyse the examination result and
other data. Admission, Examination, Purchase, Library & other
administrative units are now operate according to documented procedures
ensuring high operational quality. Training programmes are planned for all
level of staff to update their knowledge continually. The award of 9001:2000 certificate has further reinforced the resolve and commitment of the
entire Institution to provide an environment conductive to the all round
growth of students. We are confident that Institute of Shipbuilding
technology, Goa will continue to improve the quality of its services.
The Quality Management System (QMS) is fairly comprehensive and covers all
the key processes of the Institute. It is also made available on Institute
facility for the purpose of easy access. As an indicator two key process
are presented below:
Teaching Process:
Detailed lesson are prepared for each course / subject based on
curriculum provided by B. T. E. teaching provision plans are prepared
before start of semester.
Implementation of teaching process is recorded in a teaching provision
plans on day to day basis.
A monthly review is held at department section level to monitor the
progress of the syllabus coverage and if any problems are observed,
immediate corrective actions are initiated.
Customer related process:
Feedback obtained from students at the end of semester is compiled and
analysed. Findings are forwarded to staff members through their HODs for
further action.
Feedback is also obtained to find out students satisfaction level on
various facilities like Library, Self Learning Centre, Canteen,
cleanliness, Workshop & Laboratory facilities, Gymkhana facility etc., The
feed backs are analysed and forwarded to respective committees for further
actions towards improving the quality of the services provided to the
students.
At the end of semester students performance in internal assessment are
complied which are compared and analysed with the Board examination
result.
